As another Valentine’s Day passes for all the ladies who spent it single let me give you three reasons why you need to look at the positive of spending Valentine’s Day alone. First let’s establish that being by yourself is ok. Being single and not in a relationship is not always a bad thing. I feel like people think being single is a weakness, or something is wrong with an individual if they are not in a relationship. I am an optimist (most of the time) so I feel like being single is a positive thing in today’s society. Being by yourself is ok for the following reasons:
- You get to know yourself. Knowing who you are is vital in having a healthy relationship. If you do not know who you are then how do you expect to be successful in a relationship? So why you are single get to know yourself and embrace all of you the good, bad and ugly. Work on changing the bad/ugly and continue to build up the good.
- Refocus and come up with a plan. Being single is the perfect time to refocus and make plans for accomplishing the goals you have set for yourself. Focus on possibly going back to school, becoming more financially stable, traveling, and tons of other fun hobbies that you enjoy.
- Not settling because you know that what you want in a relationship God will give it to you. If you choose to be single and not settle kudos to you because so many women settle and end up with losers in unhealthy relationships all because they don’t want to be alone. Be alone and not settle in the end your patience will be well worth the wait.
So this is some positivity for you on this Hallmark holiday that capitalizes on telling people what the value of love should be with tangible items. Be ok with being single and when the time is right someone will come into your life and validate that the wait was well worth it.
